A chiropractic adjustment is a highly specialised, small movement performed by hand or with the aid of an instrument called an activator. Chiropractors are five (or more) year trained university graduates and are the only health professionals trained, registered and insured specifically to deliver a chiropractic adjustment.
The adjustment is designed to address improper joint movement and segmental neurological function to help your body perform better. Most of our patients come to see us for back pain, neck pain and headaches but we routinely work on feet, knees, shoulders, elbows, wrists and even your jaw! We see everyone from birth to very advanced age.
During your first chiropractic visit, your Chiropractic Doctor will take your health history and do a thorough examination to find out how your body is functioning and where it needs some help.
Your Doctor will use a state- of- the- art posture program (Posture Screen) to have a good look at your posture to see what other issues might be impacting your health. You may also be sent for xrays if needed.
You and your chiropractor will discuss the options for care and a care plan will be recommended specifically for you. Your care plan may range from weeks to months depending on the underlying issues. We have many patients who complete their care plan and choose to come for regular visits to help maintain good health. Maintenance is a bit like making sure your have the right
amount of air in your tyres so you get the best performance from your vehicle!

In 2003 NASA published a technical paper describing their research on the use of a 10 Hz pulsed square wave magnetic field or PEMF signal to stimulate nerve stem cells.
In this research they discovered that this particular signal was able to increase the growth of nerve stem cells by about 400%. They also found that this signal caused expression of about 150 growth factor genes involved in this increased stem cell production. Because of NASA’s success using this signal for stem cell growth enhancement, a number of PEMF manufacturers, including Swissbionic have included a 10 Hz signal in their PEMF devices. A 10 Hz signal is a brainwave frequency signal. It is in the alpha rhythm frequency range. That means it tends to be a relaxing frequency and being in the alpha band of the brain can tune the brain to a relaxed state, particularly if used around the brain. In fact, 10 Hz has been found to increase dopamine and 5-HTP levels, important for helping with depression. Research in Germany also indicates a 10 Hz can be very effective and helpful for restoring circadian rhythms that have gotten out of balance, for example in the jet lag seen from flights across multiple time zones.

While visiting us, you may also be learning about exercises and stretches that can help your condition. Chiropractors assess your body from a holistic perspective. Not only how your joints move, but how your whole system works together. During your visits your chiropractor will likely prescribe specific exercises to help support you on your journey to better function.
By completing the recommended exercises and stretches regularly, you can improve your strength, flexibility, posture and range of motion. Even when you have experienced an injury, we may still encourage you to exercise or stretch so that the muscles in the area remain agile. This may enable you to continue to go about your daily activities and reduce the stress on the injured area.

Proper alignment starts from the ground up. During your initial examination your chiropractor will assess your foot stability. If your feet are not functioning properly due to incorrect footwear or injury, it causes a chain reaction up into your whole body. Your walking gait and posture are affected which then leads to stress and adaptations through the rest of your body. These adaptations to incorrect mechanics may be a contributing factor to your pain.
Along with chiropractic adjusting, we recommend and stock Sole Revolution Neurological Stabilisers to help stabilise and support your process.

Using remedial massage, we aim to help the body speed up its own healing processes to injured soft tissue. Your therapist will locate the damaged area, then apply strong and deep or gentle and shallow pressure. This treatment can stimulate the blood supply, make joints more mobile and help repair damaged tissue. Your therapist will aim to balance the length, tone and tension of muscles and tendons. When these are balanced, the correct position of the bones and increased blood flow can be restored.
Problems with the muscles can trigger or radiate pain to other parts of the body. Remedial massage aims to trace the original reason for the pain, addressing both the cause of the problem and the symptoms.
Easing and stabilising the muscles can improve problems such as headaches, sciatica, abdominal and lower back pain. A few more health problems that are often treated with remedial massage include sporting and dance injuries, muscle cramps, whiplash, muscular atrophy, fibrositis, spondylitis, arthritis and frozen shoulder.
Remedial massage therapy is covered by most private health funds.

Dry needling has become a popular tool for chiropractors and physiotherapists. A very fine, single use, sterile pin (like an acupuncture needle) is gently inserted into muscular trigger points which are very tight bands of muscle (knots) that can cause constant pain. Dry needling initiates a signal to the brain that may cause an increase in blood flow and a release of special brain chemicals that help soothe tightness in the muscle.
Dry needling is commonly used to help athletes recover from muscular injuries.

If you’ve got tenderness in the jaw, headaches, earaches, ringing in the ears, dizziness, difficulty opening or closing your mouth, neck, upper back or facial pain; it is worthwhile looking at your jaw. The joint here is called the temporomandibular joint or TMJ.
Our chiropractors have special training in diagnosing problems and working with this delicate but important joint. There are many possible reasons for dysfunction in this joint including posture, injury, chronic clenching or grinding. Once the cause of the dysfunction is identified and cleared, the jaw begins to work properly which may result in a reduction or elimination of your symptoms.
